Today i received the frontpanel for the Synthtech MOTM510 WaveWarper. This makes another finished DIY project. Yet i still need to figure out how shall i use this module. Besides that, i am working on the MFOS Voltage Quantizer and the SuperMoe Sequencer. More pictured and updates on that later on as i need to change batteries on my Camera. Some pot boards are done, another 6 coming in by mail the next days from ExpressPCB and the Input-Output Board being designed by my dear friend Niko from studiorepair.de .

It’s Tuesday and i just packed up my luggage for my travel to london tomorrow. On the right you see my finished works for today. On the left photo you see the switch tool and clock divider module (50% done, as the switch tool PCB is lacking). On the right side you see the syncslave pcb. Seems i manage to finish some projects within this year…

The next module is finished:  Multiples. A Non-circuit one but extremely useful. it has the “overflow” feature, so you can “break” the link between the 4-jack-blocks.

I had this module sitting on my workbench for quite a while with assembled jacks but missed the cabling.

So this is done today and it’s now installed in my modular providing me 16 multiples (or 4 times 4 blocks). Wee! And i got space again on my workbench. Working on the MB808 and then the klee sequencer is next (when i return from London end of week).

After a wonderful sommer (of non-diy’ing because of work and too much heat) i started to work again on my projects. latest one: transistorsex sequencer. It’s the famous TB303 sequencer redesigned from my friends at the lötstelle 303. it is a non-public project. I am waiting for the final case design. the sequencer does support MIDI in/out and CV/Gate out. Soldering was easy. Next is the syncslave (from the same forum).

Finally some more of my bought stuff arrived. Namely the Oberheim OB-Mx and the Oberheim DMX. Seems i am the “Oberheimer” now (okay, bad german word joke) because i do down more than one oberheim thing.

Anyway, i managed to get two voice cards for the oberheim, so it has 4 voices now. As Aliens-Projekt outlined, the Mx is a real beast. I need to check the linear power supply because of the 10 Hz difference the power supply hums noticeable.

Besides that the box is awesome. Very buchlaesque but also very oberheimish. It will certainly be a central part in my new setups. I like vintage synths ….

Another one of those evenings debugging and finding errors on the x0xbox. MIDI IN does not work, however MIDI OUT does. I am going to change the MIDI IN chip tomorrow and retest. Midi out works as expected, however i have the feeling that either the x0xbox or Ableton is a bit off tune.

BUT - it might be related that the x0xbox is not yet tuned. Once i checked SYNC IN/OUT and MIDI IN working i will fix the tuning.

Today i fixed the Sequential MAX Keyboard as well, just a button was missing which was in the mail last week.

Actually, the panels should be ready soon, so i think i will be finished when those are ready Big fun starts then.

Once those are finished, i will start working on the 808-clone project as well as finishing the cabling for the various compressors and equalizers i built. After that, there’s the whole setup cabling for music making. So … a lot to do for the summer …

Some while ago i joined a groupbuy for x0xbox pcb’s from Sasha. It seems i am one of the first ones form that group who finished the x0xbox. however some issues happened, especially when burning the atmel162 chip, so i got a tip from somebody named “Guest” in the ladyada forum, which worked. when burning a chip for the x0xbox, please use these settings:

the following fuses are set and anything else is not set
brown out detection at 4.3v
preserve eeprom through chip erase cycle
boot size equals 256
boot reset vector enabled
external oscillator greater than 8mhz 16k clock plus 65ms

Once that is done, the sequencer and all features seem to work, however the U/D function seems reversed, so i am still debugging this baby….

The last days were really fun. I finally received my MacBook Pro 17″ (which appearently was declared lost by DHL and then re-found), despite the fact that i had already bought a 15″ MacBook Pro to replace my 13″ MacBook.

Sounds complicated ?!? Well Here’s the story: I used to have a Macbook 13″ for about two years now which i sold on ebay two times (the first time, the buyer asked me to cancel the auction, the second time i was lucky).

About 14 days before the sale, i had an offer for a 17″ MacbookPro at a good price, so i decided to go buy it. Unfortunately, this was lost at DHL transportation for about 14 days. We asked for traceback and all such stuff and they told us to file a lost complaint and they’ll reimburse the money.

Based on that fact, i bought a 15″ at a local Apple Dealer ( not one of the -we-are-great-Gravis-but-we-suck Apple Dealer) and migrated all that stuff i had on disk from 13″ to 15″ which took about a day and a lot of reading.

Earlier this week, i got a package and a sorry-notice from DHL. Means, temporarly i had 3 Apple Macbooks at my home, the 13″, the 15″ and the 17″.

The 13″ is now gone and all content moved to the 15″. As i am tying this, i am migrating all the stuff from the 15″ onto the 17″.

Anyway: Now i know where all files store their stuff and i managed not to lose a thing
